New Entry and Tower

We were presented with a two part challenge at Lamson library at Plymouth State College. The first was to save money on the projected $8 M building construction budget while maintaining full function and creating a facility with character. The second challenge was to meld three generations of construction into one cohesive 88,000 s.f. whole that would house the state’s largest library collection for the next twenty years.

The cost of construction was reduced by more than $2 M to slightly under $6 M. Teamed with Engleberth Construction, the project was delivered on schedule and in a manner that President Wharton described as “ the smoothest running project the college had ever experienced.”
