The resulting deep space is relieved by a large central light well 32 feet high in the main reading room.  The circulation desk has a direct view into each area of the library and visual control of all public entrances. The meeting room has a separate exterior entrance and rooms are arranged to allow access to a kitchen and toilet rooms when the library proper is closed.
