Sheerr McCrystal Palson Architecture Inc received the 2002 NEW HAMPSHIRE BUSINESS IN THE ARTS AWARD
at a gala evening presentation on May 20 in Manchester to a crowd of over 400 business and arts leaders.

SMP along with Fidelity Investments, Northeast Delta Dental, and Harvest Capital Management were applauded for their contributions of support through financial commitments, staff involvement, project assistance and in-kind services.

Sheerr McCrystal Palson was recognized for the significant contributions of time, services & support for arts organizations across NH, particularly:

Concord Community Music School

Capitol Center for the Arts

Firm President Eric Palson “A major emphasis of our practice is design for non-profit entities. We have offered our time and services to help visualize and realize goals within the standard bounds of architectural services, but also extending to economic planning, fundraising assistance and support.”

With a total staff of seven, SMP is a small company.  “We are also relatively young, having been incorporated in our current form only three years ago. Our ability to make really significant cash donations is somewhat limited in the context of New Hampshire corporations.  We have substituted our time, enthusiasm and creativity to create a positive impact larger than our size would suggest.” Palson said.

Sheerr McCrystal Palson Architecture, Inc. is to some degree an arts organization itself as promoting quality design in New Hampshire is one of their basic functions.  SMP is a service organization in that they exist to help people and organizations reach their goals through design.  “We support the arts because it is in our nature; we appreciate and admire the work arts organizations do and we are already a part of it.”

The New Hampshire Business Committee for the Arts presents the awards annually to recognize and honor outstanding support of the arts. The NHBCA was founded in 1985 to educate, motivate and recognize business support of and participation in the arts. For more information about the Awards or the NHBCA contact the NHBCA at 603 224-8300 or visit the website at nhbca.com.
