define

A private developer hired SMP to design market-rate housing on a tight site behind an existing 1869 house.

Instruct

We determined that the best—and perhaps only—use of the available land was to use a row-house model, which allowed for eight two-story units and associated parking, green space, and private porches. SMP developed and provided condominium documents to the owner, so he, with the help of Nobis Engineering (civil/landscape), could get the project through the Concord planning board approvals. The owner was his own general contractor.

Build

Tucked into this residential community, the occupants have a private setting with a view to the adjacent dairy farm. By utilizing the latest in durable building materials and high-performance systems, the owner ended up with an energy-efficient, low-maintenance building.
